Humans of Lismore

Alex – “My fathers family were from here so I’m a 4th generation North Coaster. I moved to Sydney, stayed for 32 years and that’s where I started my Hairdressing career. My last job was working for myself in Darlinghurst. I had my own business there for 6 years. Prior to that I was a Pivot Point educator for a while. Even though I had my own business I also did a lot of corporate jobs for CEO’s, functions, weddings and events. In my early years I won a few prizes, one being Australian Hairdresser off the year. That was a while back but it was a bit special at the time.

A couple of years ago my father died so I moved back here to support my mum. I’m living at Newrybar which is lovely and it’s a beautiful drive to work in the mountains and the mist every morning. I grab my coffee at Clunes cafe on the way.

I’m in the process of signing off to buy ‘The Boys’ business here in Summerland Arcade. I’m really excited to be here and I’m really excited to be back in Lismore. I went to the Carboot on the weekend and I felt a real sense of belonging and a sense of warmth and friendliness from so many people. Every time I came back which was every year to see my family I kind of felt like I was coming home anyway. Now I’m living here it’s even better.

I’m excited to become part of the business community and become part of the nest that makes Lismore what it is. It’s good to have a nice reputation to fill the shoes of and to keep that going. To be just as warm and inviting as Tom is to everyone.

In November one of my Sydney clients is flying me to the UK to do hair and makeup at her wedding so that will be awesome.
